Doula support

Becoming a parent is one of the most significant things you will ever do. However your journey unfolds, you deserve to feel informed, respected and genuinely held throughout.

As your doula, my role is not to tell you what to do or how to feel. It is to walk alongside you, help you explore your options, build your confidence and make sure you never feel alone in the decisions you are making.

How I work

I offer warm, evidence-informed and non-judgemental support to families during pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. Every family is different, and my support is always shaped around you and what you need.

I believe deeply in the postnatal period. Those early weeks after birth are tender, disorienting and precious, and yet they are so often the time when support falls away. My packages are built with that in mind, placing postnatal care at the heart of what I offer rather than treating it as an afterthought.

I can also offer informal breastfeeding support, drawing on my own experience of breastfeeding two children.

All packages include free membership to one of my Singing Mamas community groups (details below), because connection and community matter just as much as practical support.

Ways to work together

All packages include the following as standard:

  • WhatsApp and phone support from booking

  • Signposting to local resources and services

  • Access to my lending library of pregnancy, birth and parenting books

"Jen has been such a vital support to me and is so passionate about providing much needed support to mums. She is incredibly knowledgeable and introduced me to the term matrescence, which helped me to think differently about the huge changes involved in becoming a mum and be more compassionate to myself. Jen has a calm, relaxed manner and somehow always manages to read the room and provide exactly what is needed."

Community as part of your care

Packages include free membership to one of my Singing Mamas community groups during pregnancy. A gentle space to connect with other mums, find your voice and build community before your baby arrives. You will also receive one month free membership postnatally, because the fourth trimester is when community matters most.

No singing experience needed. Just come as you are.

Being on call and birth attendance

From 38 weeks I will be on call for you around the clock until your baby is born, day or night. During this time I will avoid alcohol, plan around your due date and keep myself available so that when you need me, I am ready. I take this commitment seriously, which is one reason I keep my client numbers small.

When to call me and when I will join you is something we will talk through together during our antenatal sessions. Every birth is different, and we will make a plan that feels right for you.

What doula support looks like in practice

Doula support looks different for every family. It might mean sitting together over tea working through your birth preferences. It might mean being a calm, steady presence in the room when things do not go to plan. It might mean holding your baby while you eat a hot meal, offering advice on breastfeeding, or simply being someone who listens without judgement in those strange, tender early weeks.

I am not a midwife and I do not offer medical advice. What I offer is continuity, relationship, advocacy and presence. Things that matter enormously and unfortunately, are increasingly hard to find in maternity care.

I am based near Falmouth and generally work within an hour's radius. If you are further afield and happy to discuss a flexible arrangement around travel and response times, please do get in touch. I am always happy to have that conversation.

"Jen has been an unwavering support in the crazy new world of motherhood for me. As someone who can suffer with poor mental health, I can honestly say she has really helped me through some tough times. She is caring and in tune with when you need extra support. She is a beautiful soul and anyone would be lucky to have her as a doula to make their experience in this crazy world of motherhood a smooth and happy one."
